VR/AR Projects
CORE
An Unreal Engine prototype for a VR platformer were the player grabs and rotates small diorama-like levers to navigate a character around them, collecting enough shards to open the exit portal.
Clashboard: Peripherals in VR
The goal of Clashboard was explore the idea of using peripherals in VR to heighten the user experience. Swinging a virtual hammer to hit blocks can be fun, but what if you were holding an actual hammer to hit virtual blocks? The result was a hammer constructed of a bamboo rod, tape, and rubber bands to attach a Quest controller for tracking, and a prototype built in Unity with one interaction; hit the cardboard blocks. The physical hammer heightened the experience, with most playtesters saying some form of “woahhhhh” as they felt like they were actually holding the virtual hammer.
Chatham Archives AR Exhibit
Created in collaboration with the Jennie King Mellon Library in Pittsburgh PA, the Chatham Archives AR Exhibit used photogrammetry and image recognition to showcase delicate archival material without the risk of harming material from Chatham’s past. The exhibit ran for a month in the lobby of the JKM Library and was built for iOS.
